Lizzie Esselman
Lizzie Esselman completed her internal medicine residency at the University of Colorado and will be working as a clinician educator and hospitalist at the Rocky Mountain Regional VA. As an art history and visual culture studies major in undergrad, she is perpetually exploring the ways art and medicine interact. Prior to her medical training she spent time working in community outreach at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle, WA (her hometown). While not in the hospital, she is spending time with her husband and two dogs going on hikes, exploring new breweries, and watching all kinds of TV.

Julia Bast
Julia Bast is a PGY3 at the University of Colorado. She completed her undergraduate work and medical school at the University of Wisconsin – Madison. She is an aspiring cardiologist interested in reducing healthcare disparities in cardio-oncology. Medical education is a newfound passion of hers, inspired by superb mentorship and the desire to improve medical training for future physicians. Outside of the hospital, Julia can be found hiking, mountain biking, or grabbing a drink at one of Denver’s innumerable breweries.

Bejan Saeedi
Bejan Saeedi recently completed his internal medicine training at the University of Colorado and will be staying at CU to complete a fellowship in gastroenterology. He previously was a research technician for four years before earning his MD and PhD at Emory University. The mentorship and guidance he has received from faculty, post-docs, students and staff have given him both the desire and opportunity to pursue a career in academic research. Bejan has created and produced two podcasts - Behind the Microscope & Review of Systems - to explore the process of discovery, education, and leadership in science and medicine. His hobbies include ultrarunning, hanging out with his wife and 3 crazy dogs, and creative writing.

Hannah Carr
Hannah Carr earned her medical degree from the University of Washington and is currently an Internal Medicine resident at the University of Colorado. She is pursuing a career in Gastroenterology & Hepatology with a focus on reducing disparities in liver disease. Other Interests include medical education, drinking coffee, Boston Bruins hockey, and mountain biking.

Elizabeth Konon
Elizabeth Konon is an internal medicine resident at the University of Colorado. She completed her undergrad at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and medical school at the University of Colorado. She is interested in pursuing rheumatology and desires a career in academic medicine where she can continue to work with learners of all levels. Outside of the hospital, Elizabeth loves hiking, exploring new coffee shops, and playing pickleball.

Molly Murphy
Molly Murphy is a medical student at the University of Colorado School of Medicine, graduating in the class of 2025. Her career interests include general surgery, pediatric surgery, and OBGYN. She is passionate about medical education and appreciates the platform that podcasts provide for sharing information within the field of medicine. She is also the president of the CU student-run podcast, In the Vein. Outside of medical school, she enjoys reading fiction, going for runs with her dog, and skiing, hiking, and camping in the picturesque mountains of Colorado.

Bryan Swanson
Bryan Swanson is a current medical student at University of Colorado, Class of 2025. Originally from Montana, Bryan has been in Colorado for multiple years now after finishing undergrad at Colorado College. He plans to apply to Internal Medicine residency and has an interest in Cardiology. Outside of school, Bryan enjoys the basic activities of Colorado including skiing, fishing, and hunting, especially when they can be combined with delicious cooking.

Juan Lessing
Juan N. Lessing MD, FACP is an Associate Professor in the Division of Hospital Medicine at the University of Colorado. He earned an Art and Archaeology degree from Princeton, attended medical school at the University of California, San Francisco, and completed residency and chief residency at the University of Washington, Seattle. His primary academic and clinical focus is the art and science of clinical and management reasoning in medical education.

Alexis Tumolo
Alexis Tumolo MD, FACC is an Assistant Professor in the Division of Cardiology at the University of Colorado. A New England transplant in Colorado, she received a BA in Classics-Latin at Harvard, attended medical school at the University of Massachusetts, and completed internal medicine residency at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, where she realized her passion for medical education through the Clinician-Educator Track. During cardiology and cardiac electrophysiology fellowships at the University of Colorado, she focused on medical education projects, including curriculum development, simulation education, and mentoring structures to address physician well-being.
